Ip Man (Tony Chiu Wai Leung) mieszka w Foshan, gdzie prowadzi spokojne życie w towarzystwie swojej żony. Pewnego dnia do Foshan przybywa z północy wielki mistrz sztuki Wudang – Gong Yutian, który przedstawia swojego pierwszego następcę Ma Sana i postanawia wyznaczyć drugiego, któremu przyporządkowane będzie południe Chin. Ta decyzja rozpoczyna serię pojedynków Ma Sana z kandydatami na sukcesora. Ponieważ jednak Ma San okazuje się niezwyciężony, mistrzowie południa wyznaczają Ip Mana na swojego reprezentanta. (TVP)
