With their beloved master in comatose, two over-the-hill martial artists are reduced to massaging the maestro's limbs and waiting tables in his converted school, now a teahouse. Trouble arrives in the form of a gang of thugs, hired by a shady developer drooling over the teahouse property. One big homage to the Kung-Fu genre where nostalgic stylization is precise (the cutting, the sound-effects, the music!), the choreography inventive and also (or most importantly) it’s a great comedy. Even without “cultural learnings", although that increases the fun. Just a few cameos by Kung-Fu legends of past decades and maintaining the ultimate tone of the first half in the second half too (which was awfully serious, lacking both detached humor and contact) kept this movie from being absolutely perfect.
