Dramat historyczny z rozmachem przedstawiający Chiny na początku XX wieku. Kraj, w którym rządy sprawuje małoletni cesarz Puyi oraz cesarzowa Longyu (Joan Chen), przechodzi przez liczne kryzysy. Nieudane reformy, agresja obcego państwa oraz zła sytuacja ekonomiczna ludności doprowadzają do powstań przeciwko dynastii Qing. Na czele ruchu zbrojnego stają Huang Xing (Jackie Chan) oraz Sun Yat-Sen (Winston Chao). Dzięki ich zabiegom udaje się doprowadzić do powstania pierwszej republiki w Azji. (FilmBox)

From a historical perspective, it's definitely an interesting moment in Chinese history, and it's presented quite well. I think from a filmmaking standpoint, the movie is visually appealing; it's qualitatively epic and well-stylized. However, despite that, the film feels dull, and I can't help but feel that considering the subject matter, it was approached in a rather lackluster way.

Jackie Chan wanted to film it honestly and as convincingly as possible, as it’s about a rather crucial moment in the history of China. But the result is so bland and boring that it won’t convince even the world’s worst dictator of how China should write its history. It looks nice, but the action is slow, and the dialogs won’t mean much to the Czech audience. I wanted a film made in an interesting way that would not be boring and that’s exactly what I didn’t get. Seen based on the Challenge Tour 2015.
