angielski I was a little unsure during the opening scenes of Goin' to Town. Mae West in a western? Back in 1935? Glamour actresses were mostly given westerns as punishment later on. Not so Mae, who used the western setting only as initial exposition. She once again wrote the script and dialogues herself, with a clear goal in mind. Her protagonist aspires to go from the saloon to high society. And then, of course, it's an all-encompassing parade. Exotic locations, casinos, great settings, intrigue, men... many, many men. And the biggest highlight? Mae West as Cleo Borden singing the lead role in the opera "Samson & Delilah" Anyone who hasn't seen it has no idea what the 1934/5 season was all about. The final gesture in which Mae bows to the audience says it all. ()
