There hasn't been such a brisk, audience-friendly and entertaining political drama packed with so much intrigue and subterfuge for many years. First-class actors, stellar directors and capable writers. Obviously, no expense was spared on the cast and it is bearing fruit. Plus, House of Cards seems to have the great feature that, for example, Game of Thrones has. Firstly, we see the transformation of the main characters over a wide time span, secondly, many situations are completely unpredictable and the development of the whole saga changes many times in a natural and rational way. In the first few minutes, it is clear what style everything will be played out on the screen. David Fincher is directing and everything is the way his fans like it: cool, with surgically precise direction and script, and unflinchingly self-aware. The cards are being dealt slowly, let's see what the next episodes bring. But it's already clear that the Spacey-Wright duo will be demonic. (24.11.2018)

This pulling of strings in the White House is by no means essential. But the big fuss around the unassuming Zoe is much more interesting and relevant to the whole plot in the coming episodes; this promising journalist is more than meets the eye. One of the few episodes that doesn't revolve around a character, but is no less important for the depth of those around. (01.12.2018)

The intimacy and chemistry between the main duo is perfectly handled. With the precision of Fincher, Schumacher gave a flashback to his best years as a filmmaker. Not to mention the clash of Frank vs. the union, an awesome raised middle finger in the form of a luxurious gala in front of the hotel. A juicy episode. (01.12.2018)

A phenomenal battle of the surgeon Underwood vs the butcher Spinella with a sweet finishing touch in the script. It didn't matter that it was too cinematic and for effect when it was so cool and hit the spot so well. Any negative feeling is eliminated by an exceptional fuck-up CNN interview. (01.12.2018)

A romantic interlude. The meeting of the future congressman with his soulmate is impressive and probably important for the further plot, as is the sentimental note played in the oval office, but why not, the occasional drop in tempo may be just the calm before the storm. (01.12.2018)

Frank takes a break and this time his political antics and masterful verbal twists go into the background. He experiences a strange reminiscence and a weird gay tension incident. It's hard to say whether this episode was entirely necessary and crucial, but in any case the vivacious Mr. Russo amply fills in for him as he gets his due in Redneck. (01.12.2018)

A brilliant interaction between Russo and the Vice President. A battle of dialogue between the boldness of youth and the mastery and experience of old age. But the overall feel of this episode is otherwise rather intimate. The progression of the Zoe-Frank duo is more downward – it will be interesting to see the impact on the main character's marriage. Frank in the corner and under heavy fire. A very impressive episode, with an onslaught of emotions, anger and determination. Russo's time bomb puts the finishing touch on it. (03.12.2018)

A shocking twist as the main thrust of one of the last episodes of the first season that sets the bar quite high. Even a game in white gloves and ironed clothes can get really dirty. (05.12.2018)

A phenomenal clash between two strong and interesting personalities with different rhetoric, different strategies and different ideologies. It's a high patriots’ game of who's who, one for power and money and the other for money and power, full of great turns, ideas, attitudes and dialogues. Perhaps for the first time, Frank finds himself in the middle of a game he hasn't played. And he’s adapting wonderfully. (05.12.2018)

The final episode obviously leaves a few question marks and it will be interesting to watch the second season. Firstly, how Frank will cope with his new work challenge and, of course, also with the skeletons that fill his closet and it will get worse. (05.12.2018)

Conceptually different than the previous season. While season 1 was a tug of war between pieces on the chessboard, this one is already a bold challenge and a battle of essential pieces to win. More intense and more complete than the first one, but without the wow effect and some absolutely crucial twists. On the other hand, this season offers unprecedented drama and a gripping, tense finale. (18.12.2018)

A shocking twist in the very first episode. It starts off pretty sharp and not only with the main character played by Kevin Spacey, but also his wife and journalist Zoe. The great battle is on again. (09.12.2018)

After the first pummeling, it slows down tactically and the colourful story slowly takes on a broader scope and more characters. Basically a pure chatterbox, without any major moments, but from the point of view of the whole, no less important than the others. (09.12.2018)

Superb work by the screenwriters, who brilliantly compose the dialogue passages with a slow but perfectly fluid pace and intimate atmosphere. The interview with Mrs. Underwood is terrific. (11.12.2018)
