House of Cards

I'm writing this review after watching four seasons. I knew after the first episode that I was going to like this one a lot. Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors, and he's excellent as always. I never thought I’d enjoy a series about political intrigue, but I was wrong. The story completely drew me in, and I always find it hard to turn it off and go to sleep. I think a lot of filmmakers could learn from it a lot about how to create atmosphere. Frank and Claire Underwood can be so cold sometimes that I have to scrape frost off the screen. Season 5 is not going to get five stars from me. Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood didn’t seem to get enough screen time and I couldn't enjoy his brilliant running commentary on his own manipulations and scheming. Anyway, Claire and Francis Underwood are still the lifeblood of the series, which is starting to get tedious at times, resulting in a slight loss of momentum in the story. I also felt that some of the storylines have become somewhat overelaborate, but the series still holds its place among my favorites. I'm just sorry to see Kevin Spacey go. Francis and Claire Underwood were greatly missed by me and immediately upon their return, they captivated me once again. Based on the first episode, I would bet that this season will be very successful, because the election campaign is in full swing and the intrigues and manipulations are in full force. Claire and Frank also proved to me once again that they are masters of chilling endings. (02.05.2018)

The pace of the second episode was a bit slower, I assume they were just setting up positions for new political shenanigans. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly entertained by the president-approved "hacker" attack and all its consequences. Very nice manipulation, and the pumpkin at the end really got me :-) (03.05.2018)

I was really looking forward to the fifth season, but now I'm a bit disappointed. The scheming and manipulation were fully present again, but I'm unable to give it five stars because I feel like this time the series is missing that "something" extra that I found in previous seasons. (04.05.2018)

Wow! I had just complained about the previous episode being lackluster, and now I can't write anything about this episode. Just when it looks like a lost game, Frank introduces a new piece on the chessboard and things get lively. This time, I had a great time; the old Francis Underwood was back in full swing, and his grand plans in the finale were perfect. (04.05.2018)

The sixth episode entertained me a bit more than the previous one, Claire Underwood achieved her goal (at least temporarily), but what I mainly liked was the humorous development of Will Conway's character, there's nothing like a balanced psyche. On the other hand, I had the impression that important matters were postponed for later, and I had to watch some irrelevant scenes. (04.05.2018)

The plot of the seventh episode pleasantly surprised me, even though it mostly took place in a government bunker. Finally, there was full-on intrigue again, and there was even something that could be called a coup, and I like such situations. Additionally, unlike the previous episode, Kevin Spacey had more screen time again, so I was satisfied. (04.05.2018)

I think that during the time of watching the series, it has never happened to me that I was even slightly bored, but this time it did. I wasn't particularly entertained by the storyline with the strange campers, and Claire's presidency didn't interest me too much either, so this time I rated it only three stars, which is the worst grade so far from me for House of Cards. After a weaker previous episode, the creators returned to their standard in the ninth part, so this time I definitely wasn't bored. Kevin Spacey's excellent performance during the inauguration of the president entertained me and I enjoyed the additional manipulation and intrigue. However, I'm already tired of watching the sexual life of the Underwoods because it's clearly a repetitive matter. (05.05.2018)

The tenth episode definitely didn't disappoint me. I enjoyed a proper dose of politics, manipulation, and intrigues in it. Fortunately, Frank Underwood once again behaved as a disgusting cynic, and thanks to the development that occurred in the story, I can look forward to seeing how he will lie his way out of all the accusations again. The eleventh episode took on a decent pace and poor Tom Hammerschmidt didn't even have a moment to catch his breath because he was uncovering one of Frank's dirtiness after another. I really enjoyed the whole episode because it was full of elaborate intrigues and manipulations, and I like that. (07.05.2018)

The Underwoods once again put theory into practice, and after eleven episodes of politicking, manipulation, and intrigue, unpleasant things started happening to people again. Claire made it clear this time that she, too, is not foreign to the motto: "The end justifies the means." Frank Underwood's speech before the committee was again outstanding, and I was completely thrilled with how Kevin Spacey nailed it. (07.05.2018)

After the final episode of the fifth season, I had mixed feelings. Some scenes impressed me (the chilling ending with Claire, Frank's vision presentation), but I also saw many overcomplicated matters, and essentially it seemed to be about sidelining Kevin Spacey enough, as he is such a terrible, unconvicted criminal, and to make his departure from the series easier. Finally, I have a clear idea of ​​what it looks like when the MeToo movement actually succeeds. Kevin Spacey was fired and the writers’ house of cards came crashing down - or at least the story as it was originally intended. Instead, they had to put together this pathetic piece of crap, which has nothing to do with the successful series (except for the characters). This is so unfair. Five absolutely amazing seasons and then I get stabbed in the kidneys like that. (05.12.2019)

Phew, that was a tough disappointment of my favorite series. The first episode of the sixth season was on one hand dull and uninteresting, on the other hand, it was totally ass-kissing. I couldn't find another word for what I saw. Pandering to feminists and the MeToo movement couldn't have been greater, I like women (and always have), but such matters do them far more harm than good in my opinion. (04.12.2019)

Unlike the previous part, this time I had a feeling that something little was happening, but Claire's speeches to the audience do not desperately work on me, they are artificial like whipped cream from a spray can. And Francis Underwood would definitely not allow someone to make their own figurine from the president. (04.12.2019)

This was a similar case as in the previous episode - there were several moments that I enjoyed, I simply love the scheming, but that's precisely the problem. They were just moments, as a whole, the third part was unconvincing, Shepherd doesn't work for me at all, and Claire is weird. (04.12.2019)

I wasn't exactly jumping with enthusiasm this time either. If it weren't for Lars Mikkelsen in the role of President Petrov, I would probably settle for just two stars. The quality that this series used to have can only be dreamed of by the creators. I'm halfway through the season and so far, it has been a big disappointment. (04.12.2019)
