Członek Brytyjskiego Towarzystwa Zoologicznego, Jonathan Marchant organizuje wyprawę do niedostępnych rejonów Konga celem zbadania pogłosek dotyczących tajemniczej wodnej istoty zwanej Mokele Mbembe. W skład ekipy badawczej wchodzą m.in. podróżnik Charlie Rutherford, dbająca o opiekę medyczną doktor Liz Draper oraz syn Marchanta, Luke. Na miejscu naukowcy wynajmują lokalnych przewodników oraz śmigłowiec, by odszukać jezioro, które według doniesień zamieszkuje zwierzę. Podczas lotu helikopter ulega awarii na skutek zderzenia z latającym gadem i spada do dżungli. Starając się przetrwać w tropikalnym lesie, rozbitkowie odkrywają, że rejon jest zasiedlony przez prehistoryczne stworzenia. (Polsat)

A traditional (adventure) horror found-footage expedition in the jungle, only that instead of ghosts, witches, the yeti or a killer, we get dinosaurs. The setting is nice, the effects not so, but that doesn’t matter because, fortunately, the creators don’t show the prehistoric creatures too much. What makes the film below-par are the characters. It’s impossible to build a positive relationship with any of them. And the last ten minutes are such crystal clear cliché after cliché that it’s too much, even for the genre. Is this is the best live action film with dinosaurs since Jurassic Park? Yeah, no doubt, but the value of that claim is ridiculously low.
