Robert De Niro is Jackie Burke, an angry, uncompromising insult comic several decades past his prime-time fame on a popular sitcom. Doing stand up on Nostalgia Night at a comedy club, he assaults a heckler who records the fight for his web podcast, and ends up behind bars for a month when he refuses to apologize. While serving out his sentence doing community service at a food bank, he meets Harmony (a terrific turn from Leslie Mann) a much younger soulmate with her own anger management issues. It's an encounter that will upend his life. (Palm Springs International Film Festival)

angielski Robert De Niro shows in this film how well he can handle leading roles and how he is still a great acting master. It's unorthodox, it's gross, it's ugly, and it's funny. I didn't even expect that he could still make a movie about a comedian and it be somewhat different, yet incredibly captivating. But he also had good acting colleagues. ()

angielski The entire time I couldn't help feeling that I was looking at a custom-made creation for overworked actors. In short, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, and Danny DeVito needed a film to star in. Even the script is kind of tailored to that. Unfortunately, I didn't have much fun watching the film, as the rather silly vulgar banter didn't appeal to me at all. (55%) ()
