Carl Th. Dreyer: Min metier

The film Carl Th. Dreyer - min metier consists of three narrative lines. In the documentary part we see actors who have worked with Dreyer, ex- colleagues and friends, as well as contemporary artists and scientists who have been influenced by his work. These scenes are in black-and-white and their style and technique call to mind Dreyer's own films. Apart from a lot of archive footage, another important part of the film consists of a cinematic reconstruction of Dreyer's ideas about film, aesthetics and language. By joining the myth of the past with the present director Skjödt Jensen hopes that Dreyer's body of ideas will also be a (renewed) source of inspiration for contemporary artists.
