Samotna matka wychowująca trójkę dzieci przeprowadza się do pięknego przestronnego domu. Niestety wkrótce okazuje się, że jest on nawiedzony. Przeprowadzka rodziny pozwoli Joan, samotnej matce zaoszczędzić na kosztowne leczenie sparaliżowanego syna, który od lat żyje przykuty do łóżka. Nowy dom wydaje się idealnym miejscem dla rodziny, jednak okazuje się, że nie są w nim sami. W niewyjaśniony sposób zaczyna zmieniać się stan zdrowia Jamesa. To, co początkowo wygląda na cud, wkrótce okazuje się koszmarem. (Canal+)

I can’t really say that latest Amityville is a good film, but to be honest, after all the obstructions by the distributor, who delayed the release for three years, I was expecting some truly toxic crap. So I was pleasantly surprised by the result, Khalfoun’s latest is at least an average film overall.

Amityville: The Awakening is ultimately a very mediocre film and nothing new in the franchise in my opinion. There are some interesting family relationships thrown in, but nothing leads to their fulfillment or to highlighting any meaningfulness to the plot. The character of James is repulsive at first glance, which I find silly and unnecessary in terms of the casting and makeup of the actor. The female protagonists make it slightly better.
