Carl Hamilton once had a family. But it was completely wiped out in an act of revenge, and now the abduction of his 7-year-old goddaughter Nathalie brings back intensely painful memories. When Nathalie's veiled picture shows up on Internet, it becomes clear that the kidnapping is directed at her mother, Ewa Tanguy, head of the Swedish Security Police. Someone intends to convert her daughter to fundamentalist Islam. As the Swedish authorities remain passive, Hamilton is forced to take action. With the aid of his close friend Mouna, he manages to track down the kidnappers. Nathalie has been abducted by an immensely wealthy Saudi oil magnate, who wishes to set an example to the world, counting on his oil assets to protect him against any international intervention. However, he does not bargain on Agent Hamilton, along with a few of his brothers-in-arms, planning a deadly rescue mission against his desert fortress. It is expectedly weaker than the first instalment, which really surprised me. The camera is shakier, the whole story sticks out like a sore thumb, and somehow I can’t shake the impression that the creators made it all at once while disregarding the quality of the narration. It’s a pity. After the first instalment, Hamilton got under my skin.
