Legendary Spanish fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga has said, "Elegance is elimination." Balenciaga gave depth and architectural dimensions to '50-60s silhouettes by mixing old techniques with modern looks. He was a true visionary of his time, and was referred to as "the master of us all" by Christian Dior and as "the only couturier in the truest sense of the word" by Coco Chanel.

"Balenciaga" by director Oskar Tejedor tells the story of this world-famous designer. His mother was a seamstress and as a child Balenciaga often spent time with her as she worked. At the age of twelve he began work as a tailor's apprentice. Being an experienced designer, he designed, cut and sewed the models himself – something not every designer can do. The documentary shows Balenciaga's friends, colleagues and former students, including Hubert de Givenchy and Emanuel Ungaro, who all contribute to the story of a simple Spanish boy becoming one of the most influential figures of the fashion industry.
