Jest lipiec 2001 roku. W Genui odbywa się szczyt państw G8. Do Włoch zjeżdżają się nie tylko najważniejsi politycy świata, ale także tłumy alterglobalistów. W całym mieście panuje ogromne napięcie. Młodzi manifestanci okupują ulice, a włoskie służby bezpieczeństwa w każdej chwili są gotowe do zbrojnej interwencji. Drugiego dnia szczytu dochodzi do starć protestujących z policją, podczas których ginie jeden z najaktywniejszych demonstrantów, 23-letni Carlo Giuliani. Ale to dopiero początek. Spirala przemocy systematycznie się nakręca, a jej eksplozja następuje w nocy z 21 na 22 lipca w budynku szkoły Diaz, gdzie policja, pod pretekstem poszukiwania terrorystów, masakruje dziesiątki uczestników protestu. Violence against (often) innocent people turned into violence against innocent viewers. Vicario filmed an offensive and simple pamphlet which, instead of materiality and the ability to capture the absurdity of the situation, chooses clumsy blackmail, which it excuses through documentary footage. Ordinary exploitation - a film that only plays on the first signal because it has no resources to do more. The worst type of film that turns me from a supporter of an idea into a cynic. P. S. Filmed with the support of BNP Paribas? Oh, the paradoxes of capitalism.

The film seems somewhat straightforward in how it exploits the viewer, but on the other hand, it tries - and I think quite faithfully - to capture what happens when you give people power and tell them they can do whatever they want. They will end up abusing it as well as not getting punished for it. The film isn't great, but the reminder that something like this can happen is important to me.
