angielski Hay Road is a low-budget western guilty-pleasure meditation on freedom and justice, filmed on the fields and plains beyond the hills. Interiors illuminated like in a television production, costumes like from The Three Musketeers. Zero atmosphere of the early 20th century. The audience, spoiled by the Coens and Jarmusch, faces the dilemma of whether the creators are seriously so incapable or merely having fun by parodying genre elements hung on an intentionally meaningless frame. The lead actor resembles Daniel Day-Lewis. He has sharp facial features and his minimalist acting is ideally suited to the mood of the film and genre conventions, but he is often placed in a parodic position. Whether this was intended as some sort of demythization of a western hero is unclear, however. I think the film’s creators did intend something like that, but they didn’t manage to pull it off. ()
