The gendarme Cruchot serves very conscientiously in a remote village in the French Alps. He also holds his seventeen-year daughter Nicole on a short leash. For his zeal he's transferred to sunny Saint Tropez, which means another life for Nicole as well. But his subordinates at the police station are also facing a new life when Cruchot starts a war they never dreamed of.
