Szalony rok 1968 zmienia oblicze świata. Uliczne protesty, hippisi, narkotyki i wojna w Wietnamie. Na antypodach rdzenni mieszkańcy Australii wreszcie otrzymują prawo do głosowania. Cztery Aborygenki z zabitej dechami wioski – utalentowane, żywiołowe siostry McCrae – marzą o światowej muzycznej karierze. Plan wydaje się kompletnie abstrakcyjny, aż do chwili kiedy los stawia na ich drodze łowcę talentów, Dave’a Lovelace’a. Dave nie ma co prawda wyczucia rytmu, ale za to ma wielką wiedzę na temat muzyki soul oraz dobre serce. Postanawia zrobić z Aborygenek australijską odpowiedź na amerykański girlsband The Supremes.
