Triggered by the suicide of a worker unjustly accused of theft, a strike is called by the laborers of a Moscow factory. The managers, owner and the Czarist government dispatch infiltrators in an attempt to break the workers unity. Unsuccessful, they hire the police and, in the film's most harrowing and powerful sequences, the unarmed strikers are slaughtered in a brutal confrontation. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)

angielski The audio/music component is what grabs you first. In conjunction with the visuals, this cacophonic symphony is absolutely incredible and adds urgency to this film, which tries to show the power of the group as well as the power of the individual. It contrasts harmoniously with Marxist-Leninist philosophy and is presented incredibly. The industrial music of the first half of the 20th century is truly captivating and chilling in this regard. I haven't seen such harmony between music and film in a long time, not to mention the excellent editing that Eisenstein included in his film. ()
