Altered Carbon (2018)

angielski A sci-fi gem serving up a fanboy's wet dream in nine hours. Altered Carbon has everything a proper series should have and also meets the strictest criteria of the sci-fi genre. Blade Runner-like visuals, Neo Noir detective fiction, Cyberpunk atmosphere, hardcore erotic scenes (no shortage of titties, pussies and even dicks) and, most importantly, dense and nasty gore scenes. Joel Kinnaman plays the main character with grace and the Mexican beauty Martha Higareda is a great cherry on the cake. It's got excellent pacing, great action scenes, nicely dosed twists, a nicely tangled story with multiple lines that fit together like a puzzle at the end, great bad guys, and the twisted world itself is more than impressive. It's very fucked up in places and weaker characters may not be able to stomach it. Torture in virtual reality, you don't want that! And a brothel in space where customers can choose a woman, a man or a 7 year old child is something I've never experienced in exploitation. Satisfying in every way, and if in the second season they go with a program where the dead come back to life to find their killers, then we have something to look forward to again. Number one this year! Scene Highlight: The elevator massacre, the fight with the naked clones, Lizzie in action. 95%. ()

Season 2 (2020) (S02)

angielski The second season of the great sci-fi cyberpunk Altered Carbon is a qualitative drop, but still good fun. The series has a downside in that, although it has a brilliant idea, it ultimately hurts it because the ability to change cases (human bodies) means we see a different main character in each season and that doesn't always work. In fact Joel Kinnaman was brilliant and it's almost impossible to replace him, even if Anthony Mackie didn't bother me as much as I expected in the end. Obviously the budget was cut and the R-rating was toned down, the nudity and sex disappeared completely, that pissed me off, and they also skimped heavily on the gore, which I don’t like. Even the blade runner world is not as colorfoul as last time. What remains, however, is the action, especially the fights are once again awesome and I was impressed by the new villain, who has something. The first season is a 10 for me, this one gets 3 points less, and even though it is weaker in all respects, all 8 episodes were a lot of fun and I'm always happy to revisit that world. If there's a third season, I hope they learn from their mistakes and get back on track. Story***, Action****, Humor**, Violence***, Entertainment****,Music****, Visuals****. 7/10.. ()
