Breaking Amish

A very engaging story of Abe, Jeremiah, Kate, Rebecca and Sabrina, who leave their (more or less orthodox) Amish communities on the cusp of adulthood. They are attracted by the Western world with everything that has ever been denied and forbidden to them. Sometimes, of course, it's a pursuit of the young people's doom just for the benefit of the reality show, but the finale shows that they've really experienced the turning points of their lives. For some, the return to reality is bitter, and some continue their stellar careers, while others go through disillusionment. My enthusiasm didn't leave me until the very end, and the cherry on top was the two-episode reunion, in which things got quite serious in terms of the many sharp questions and the recent past of the main characters. Season 2 picks up more lost souls among those already introduced to us in supporting roles last year. There's Jeremiah's ex-girlfriend, for example, and she's pretty messed up, too. Brother Abe is certainly no saint, but overall he's pushing the envelope extremely hard this year. Witchcraft, affairs between married and engaged couples, denunciations to the police, and strip clubs for both sexes in Las Vegas. There’s also all the screaming, crying, hysteria, and the dancing pregnant woman. All this and much more in Breaking Amish: LA. As time went on, we got to know this bunch and at the end, we were disappointed that the grand finale didn't have a wedding like last year. It’s hypocritical entertainment for the upper ten thousand of the new age. (12.12.2012)
