Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world - both in terms of population and geography. Over 192 million people call this land their home. Taking up over half of South America, Brazil is a mix of races, religions, sophistication, wildness, wealth, poverty and unexplored wilderness. The country is considered one of the rising global powers with Vast natural resources, a burgeoning industrial base and a strong currency. In this programme Michael Palin visits Brazil for the very first time, travelling from the lost world of Amazonia to the buzzing metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, to meet the people and visit the places that shape this nation. angielski A feeling of frustration in the form of New Europe which, due to its hurried tempo, killed Palin’s biggest strength, i.e. a nose for interesting people and interaction with them, which is the only way to really get to know the local culture, bla, bla bla... But you know him and you know how he approaches his travel shows. And it would be hard to choose a better country for this special approach than Brazil and its direct and fiery inhabitants for his special approach. This suits Palin’s serious (although peppered with witty quips and sarcasm) approach best. Especially when Brazil offers such a wide range of topics; one of the greatest economies of the world with a huge amount of mineral resources, where you find child gangs tyrannizing whole city quarters, indigenous tribes untouched by modern civilization living “in the stone age", the largest rainforest of the planet, one of the largest open-pit mines in the world, as well as over-populated favelas in the shadow of the latest in skyscraper architecture, cows with double digestive tracts and... A bit of everything, really. ()
