Stonehearst Asylum, ponure, położone na pustkowiu, zamczysko to szanowany w środowisku medycznym szpital psychiatryczny. Tu właśnie Edward (Jim Sturgess), absolwent Harwardu, postanowił rozpocząć swą pierwszą pracę.
