American Vagabond

James runs away from his narrow-minded parents to liberal San Francisco – the city at the end of a rainbow, 'the promised land for homosexuals' – with his boyfriend. While wandering the streets, the homeless couple find out the same thing all the other fortune seekers have noticed: the city is grey. The pigeons, streets and buildings are grey; men and the suits they wear are grey. There are grey souls everywhere. In a touching manner, the film reflects tolerance and the experience of being different, and raises a question: when is it too late to love? The film leaves behind yearning and concern. How is James doing today?
