The Capsule

Anticipation. Fear. Rage. Boredom. Pleasure. Power. Desire. Thievery. Jealousy. Seven girls staying at a palatial mansion are given lessons which could prove to be just as incredible as life itself. While the overall tone of the surrealism-tinged film is disturbing to say the least, its animated elements lend it a marked sensitivity, even tenderness. Here, the director was inspired by the work of young Polish artist Aleksandra Waliszewska, and she subsequently developed her cinematic ideas for a fashion collection. Tsangari never reveals too much, preferring to spark the viewer’s imagination but still leaving us with a sense of uneasiness. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)
