Przerażający tygrys Shere Khan, noszący na swym ciele szramy po walce z człowiekiem, postanawia wyeliminować z dżungli wszystko, co uważa za zagrożenie. Wychowany przez rodzinę wilków chłopiec o imieniu Mowgli przestaje być tam mile widziany. Zmuszony do porzucenia jedynego domu, jaki kiedykolwiek miał, Mowgli wyrusza w fascynującą podróż, podczas której odkryje swoje pochodzenie. Jego przewodnikami są pantera Bagheera, która przyjmuje rolę srogiego mentora, oraz niedźwiedź-filozof Baloo. Trójka bohaterów napotyka na swojej drodze stworzenia, które nie zawsze życzą Mowgliemu jak najlepiej. Są to między innymi pyton Kaa oraz podstępny Król Louie, starający się wydobyć od Mowgliego tajemnicę nieuchwytnego i śmiertelnie niebezpiecznego "czerwonego kwiatu", czyli ognia. (Disney)
