Dr. Chatel Rudolf is preparing for a presentation at the Basel medical conference on the role of the physician's personality in the healing pro-cess. Therefore he visits his colleague, dr. Szabó István, a physician who has been respected almost as a true magician during his time the Budapest hospital. His methods, based on an identification with his patients and a thorough understanding of their personalities, are most effective with people who have attempted to commit suicide.
