In the middle of the night a hospital patient is murdered, He is a policeman, and his murder is the bloodiest in Swedish police annals. The painstaking efforts of Homicide Inspector Beck and his men to solve the murder is bitingly and entertainingly depicted. It turns out that police brutality and misguided esprit-de-corps lie behind the murder. The story culminates in a showdown with the desperate, solitary killer on a rooftop in the centre of the city.
