A story of journey and space: the journey from Russia to France... from school to church... from one sleepover to another... the space between a mother and her daughter.
The social, political, economic and moral transition in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall has been a painful process. There are countless people from Eastern Europe who have forsaken their homeland as they see no future there. Lucia and her little daughter Marussia are two such people. They are in Paris, living from day to day, hoping to see the day when fortune smiles at them. In spite of all the uncertainty, the two frequently share tender moments.
As they end up sleeping under a bridge, the Russian community buys them a ticket back to Russia. Marussia runs away as she refuses to go back; at the same time, she yearns for a real childhood. What kind of decision is her mother prepared to make?
