Daniel Alfredson tried to shoot a Nordic thriller in America, but despite an interesting cast, it simply didn't work out for him. The Nordic approach is evident in its focus on characters and slow pace, while the American style tries to be more audience-friendly. In the end, it becomes a hybrid that tries to appear more interesting than it actually is.
