Šingeki no kjodžin: kuinaki sentaku

I liked this prequel a little more than the original Attack on Titan probably because the main three protagonists were not in it, which is good as they are not my favorite characters. It means there was more screen time given to other characters, and while I may have minor reservations about them, I thought they were pretty good. As far as the supporting characters are concerned, by being familiar with the original narrative, I was just waiting to see when and how they died so I was unable to build a real relationship with them, and they were not very interesting due to the brevity of the running time. The soundtrack was very good, and I sometimes thought it was interesting that even German singing, which I only like when the Rammstein band performs, can sound quite cool. Although dynamic, it does not have a very profound or exceptional narrative. I found the animation a bit better than the original Attack on Titan and thought this was quite a treat, so although I will not award a lower rating than the original Attack on Titan, it is still not five stars. 8/10.
