Sytuacja brytyjskiego wywiadu nie wygląda dobrze. Przestępcza organizacja Smersh chce zdestabilizować sytuację na świecie. Brytyjski wywiad stracił co najmniej 11 agentów, a na domiar złego, 007, czyli najlepszy agent świata, szykuje się na emeryturę. M, CIA i KGB stawiają wszystko na jedną kartę - chcą odwieść Jamesa Bonda (David Niven) od emerytalnych planów. Bond musi zmierzyć się z wrogimi agentami, zapalonym graczem w bakarata (Orson Welles) oraz neurotycznym megalomanem (Woody Allen) i wprowadzić w życie genialny plan, w którym główną rolę odegrają sobowtóry. Tym razem podczas misji partneruje mu Evelyn Tremble (Peter Sellers), specjalista od bakarata i człowiek, który ma więcej wdzięku niż dwóch agentów 007 razem wziętych. (HBO)

Oh, my... I liked What's New, Pussycat? better, but it's hard to compare it to Casino Royale, because I have the strong impression that Casino Royale isn't really even a film. Well, certainly not one film. It's like five completely different films, which, by a supernatural coincidence, found themselves on the same screen one beautiful evening. Otherwise, I can't explain the existence of this more than two-hour-long romp full of ace actors, extremely beautiful women, humor of all kinds and basically anything you can think of (including Hitler). Woody Allen made me laugh the most (he definitely wrote his own scenes), and if anything bothered me, it was the lack of Monty Python.

This is simply madness, which is indeed the first adaptation of "Casino Royale", but primarily it is a mess where everything possible managed to sneak in. What impresses the most is the presence of amazing actors, moreover in an incredibly large number. It is not even possible to say who excels here, even though Ursula Andres is certainly eye-catching, as well as Niven, Sellers or Allen, although in a different way. And of course, I must not forget Orson Welles, who should have been on a diet a little.
