Opisy(1)

A British comedy which was the first independent production from actress Donlan and filmmaker Guest. The busty blonde Donlan, every bit as vapid as Judy Holliday, plays a shopgirl who inherits a tiny European principality and decides to do her duty to her new people and get their struggling economy back on an even keel. Their sole product of any merit, a unique cheese, has a high alcohol content, so one need not serve wine with it. Neighboring countries have closed their borders to the trade through excessive tariffs. British cheese salesman Bogarde, though much set-upon, helps her find a solution. In the process, he falls in love with the vacuous damsel who resigns her fiefdom to marry him. Bogarde solicited this role; he wanted to try his hand at light comedy. Producer-director-writer Guest tried to get Wiliam Holden but failed. Bogarde said, "I don't think he's [Guest] ever quite forgiven me." (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)
