The Boy

Opisy(1)

Ted Henley isn't like other 9-year-old boys. Living with his father in their isolated desert motel, he leads a lonely existence, filling his time exploring the desolate surroundings and collecting roadkill for the handsome price of 25 cents a carcass. It's a hobby that feeds his curious preoccupation with death. When a car accident leads to a mysterious stranger taking up residence at the motel, Ted finds his interest piqued by the new guest and soon the young boy's sociopathic tendencies begin to rise dangerously close to the surface. angielski A film like this, which in a predictable way arrives at a predictable conclusion - though without a single stumble or hesitation in execution - can’t be 105 minutes long. It really doesn’t work, it’s almost unwatchable. The ideal run in this case would be slightly more than 70 minutes, and I would give it as much as 4 stars, because Macneill does have talent, which he shows in many scenes. Unfortunately, he also shows in many scenes that he doesn’t have the script to justify their existence. ()

angielski A very disturbing film about a boy who somehow grew up alone with a hatred that completely permeated him. This is definitely not easy to watch. The young cast here shows that child actors are extremely capable and that they can act in a way that gives you goosebumps. ()
