This successful family drama essentially tells the story of two feuding Maori families whose feud was once stirred up by the one who had almost nothing, but whose uncompromising approach to life and his surroundings meant that he ultimately achieved what he most wanted. He acquired wealth and was able to control everyone around him. Young Simeon hates him at first, but he can’t go against the blood that runs through his veins... I would like to compliment the makers for a job well done. And if nothing else, the very end of The Patriarch lured me in quite a clever way to watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers again. And that's what counts. (80%)
