Founded in the 1940s during World War II, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) was originally comprised of a handful of LA based overseas journalists who sought to bridge the international community with Hollywood, and to provide distraction from the hardships of war through film. Seventy years later, members of the HFPA represent 55 countries with a combined readership of 250 million in some of the world's most respected publications. Each year, the organization holds the third most watched awards show on television, the Golden Globe Awards, which honors the most important motion pictures and television programs of the year. If Ricky Gervais wasn't there, it definitely wouldn't be as entertaining and one would truly be bored. Only a few other actors were quite funny and their performances were successful. However, I am incredibly happy for some of the awards, especially for Sylvester Stallone and Ennio Morricone. Both legends deserved their awards a long time ago.

I am happy that once a year I have the possibility to see my favorite actors in such a chill atmosphere – the Golden Globe Awards. Ricky Gervais was unrivalled again and got pretty drunk on stage on purpose. The ever-changing level of beer in the glass in front of him practically spoke for itself. We also got to see quite an eccentric fit by Jason Statham, Quentin Tarantino and Jamie Foxx. Quentin, even though obviously crazy, paid a nice tribute to Ennio Morricone. There was also a pretty rough word fight between Mel Gibson and Gervais in full swing, who called a spade a spade. He would insult anyone and Mel got the full blast. The fight between Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio was also interesting. In this case, until I see her in that TV show, I refuse to judge her like DiCaprio did. It rather looks like DiCaprio is quite arrogant (but that’s hard to judge). He really did not behave nicely. Overall, I have to say I liked spending the two hours with these actors. They are nice to look at and at least you get to see them in a slightly different position than when they act.
