In my opinion, Tissaia de Vries is the only one who truly resembles a witch from Sapkowski's books. The plot mirrored the previous episode, so once again, there wasn't much progress, except for the staring contest between Marigold and Radovid. Seems like Marigold is done hunting... / Lesson learned: This might just be one of the most "woke" series out there. And trust me, I don't mean that as a compliment. (25.02.2024)

If I understood the author of the book correctly, every witch (and wizard) could choose their appearance, which was then enhanced by magic. Maybe I've been living in a bubble, but I've never encountered a woman who fully embraced the idea of being hunchbacked, overweight, or with a nose evoking the most famous portrait of Vlad the Impaler. I had plenty of time for these musings because, once again, the plot left a lot to be desired. / Lesson learned: Netflix once again asserted its values with the subtlety of a steamroller. 1*- (26.02.2024)

Surprisingly, something things actually started happening in the fourth episode. The only problem was Netflix's political correctness finding its way into the show. According to the writer, Marigold was supposed to be a ladies' man, pursuing both married and single women, but such characters clearly don't fit into modern, progressive narratives. / Lesson learned: I recommend Clorox to get rid of mold. The first actually good episode this season. I'm still puzzled about who the creators are aiming this series at, though. For viewers who've read the book, the attempt at a surprising twist might have fallen flat. On the other hand, those who haven't read the book likely have no chance of grasping what was really going on (which seems to be a recurring issue throughout the series, with its reliance on references to its source material). Unlike many viewers, I never quite warmed up to Henry Cavill as Geralt. However, after this episode, I'm starting to see that it might not work without him. So, the fourth season is shaping up to be quite a bizarre experience. / Lesson learned: Don't eat that, it's just an illusion. - And what are you? (27.02.2024)

Compared to the previous episode, which I found quite watchable, there was more action and the plot picked up speed. The episode didn't really stand out much, though. I enjoyed Filavandrel's Robinsonade, Cahir was driving me crazy, and the rest seemed to get lost in a whirlwind of CGI, which the creators seemed to use to cover up the fact that it's all a bit of a mess. The Tower also reminded me that the series is slowly reaching the point where I stopped enjoying the book. / Lesson learned: If someone tries to cast a spell on you, hit them with a piece of dimeritium. The sixth episode focused on Ciri's arduous journey through the desert, and I have to say, I wasn't entertained. However, I must give some credit to the creators. They were sticking closely to the book in a stage where Andrzej Sapkowski seemed to be losing his way in his own story. It was around this point in the books when I started to realize that the best part was already behind me. P.S. A dryad with a crossbow? Seriously? / Lesson learned: Avoid eating poisonous critters. The eighth episode wasn't the worst this season. However, that doesn't change the fact that I didn't really enjoy it. As I mentioned in my review of the previous episode, I don't entirely blame the creators — it's more about the source material. Professor Sapkowski strayed so far from the original stories of the Witcher world in the books, that he managed to ruin the story for me. / Lesson learned: Don't bite your nails or other people's fingers.
