This is arguably the most beautiful film ever shot in an abbatoir. We follow a group of men in Algiers, who work and live in blood-spattered clothers, surrounded by animal carcasses. Ferhani and his camera transforms both human and animal flesh into art, observing and interacting. During the monotonous work, meetings occur where representatives of the young Arab spring generation and the older independence struggle generation discuss politics, love, dreams, bitterness, hope and resignation. And football. In front of our eyes, a kind of Algerian microcosm forms and it is not a cheerful picture. But there's no shortage of humour.
