This renowned silent epic was one of the most expensive features of its day, and easily stands up to the later, technically superior version. Juda Ben-Hur, a Judean Prince forced to become a galley slave, saves the life of a Roman nobleman. He is adopted by the Roman and becomes a respected citizen and a famed chariot racer. Upon his return to Judea, Ben-Hur witnesses the crucifixion of Jesus and is inspired to convert to Christianity. Hold on tight during the sea battle and chariot race. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)

angielski A thrilling spectacle, from which the remake borrowed more than I would have expected and improved it several times. I was also surprised at how brave and brutal this Ben Hur is. Particularly during a naval battle, unprecedented things happen, whether it's a head impaled on a sword or a ram with a slave tied to it. If it weren't for the rambling ending, where the gathering of the legions to help the king is unnecessarily entangled and the reunion with his mother and sister is a bit of a waste, I would have given it five stars.
