Traditionally, when a witch turns 15, she’s supposed to go out into the world alone to study magic. Makoto’s parents, however, believe that their directionally-challenged daughter should get a high school degree. Instead of being sent out on her own, Makoto and her cat Chito find themselves traveling from the bustling city of Yokohama to the Aomori Prefecture, where they’ll stay with relatives until Makoto finishes school. It’s going to be a big adjustment, and it only gets more complicated since “normal” people aren’t supposed to know that witches exist... something that she tends to forget. In the meantime, Makoto, her cousins, and her new friends will have to work just a little harder to adapt to a whole new way of life when the new girl in town is a Flying Witch! (MVM Entertainment)

A girl flies on a broom and pulls a weepy mandrake out of the dirt. All she has to do is start waving a wand around and playing Quidditch, and it should be quite obvious what this show is trying to be. On the other hand, I have to say that Flying Witch is very easy to watch, the animation and its soundtrack are quite pleasant, the characters are quite likable, the magical world it is set in has a lot to offer. The atmosphere is also very good. So it is a respectable show which is relaxing due to its pleasant pace. 7.5/10.

A very pleasant diversion. It may star a witch, but nothing really happens in the series; we watch her gardening, getting lost in her travels, and eating all sorts of goodies. A slice of life, just spiced up with some magic here and there. But I'd say it's aimed more at men than women; at the very least, I simply didn't expect so many shots of breasts... Somewhere with a witch on a broom. A strong 3 stars.
