The Arctic part of Yakutia is characterized by an unbearable climate and permafrost. The ground is always cold, and the temperature keeps below zero for the greater part of the year. In winter, the temperature can reach –65 degrees Celsius. There is no mobile coverage or electricity here. There are no roads, which makes it hard to travel from one point to another. In such extreme conditions life becomes an everyday struggle against the elements – and yourself. Hundreds of miles away from the nearest settlement, a man can count on no one but himself. This severe land draws people who long for freedom and independence. The film's main character is a horse breeder, who spends the most part of the year in tundra, looking after his herd. Sergey spends less and less time in the village every year, only seeing his family a couple of times a year as he comes for the horse breeders festival or brings home meat. He feels a stranger in his own house, all but losing the connection with his family. Exhausting life in the North makes a man face one of the hardest questions: who is he?
