Advertising executive Jim Ferguson is attending a business party in present day New York when he is suddenly thrown back in time. He finds himself in a dogfight, flying over a First World War battlefield in 1917. Later he meets the mysterious Mr. Raymond who explains that Jim has a 'time twin' who can call on him in times of great need. This 'time twin' is flying ace Captain James 'Biggles' Bigglesworth and Jim must help him and his friends battle against a new deadly German super weapon that could change the whole course of the war. angielski Imagine a half-hour episode of Red Dwarf in which a phenomenon called "time twinning" might have occurred. Yes, it's pretty much any episode (in Red Dwarf, anything could have occurred at absolutely any time). Next, imagine that the twins are not some insignificant American with the face of a man in traffic and Captain Biggles, but rather Arnold Rimmer and Ace Rimmer. In such a case, I believe the idea of traveling to WWI and back might be a good one. But unfortunately, Red Dwarf is out of the question. Firstly, Biggles is three times as long, secondly, it is absolutely humorless, it takes itself deadly seriously and if it tries to lighten the situation somehow, it turns out terribly, thirdly, it is very amateurishly filmed, and fourthly, it has a terrible soundtrack by (I think) the Stanislas band trying to imitate Queen. In fact, the whole thing felt like a hurried parasite on the also unspectacular Highlander from the same year. And because I like the Biggles book, I have no choice but to be disgusted. ()
