In this sequel to Brice's innovative found-footage shocker, Mark Duplass reprises his gleefully menacing role as the world's worst best friend. Sara, a video artist, answers a Craigslist ad promising $1,000 for a day's worth of filming. Upon arrival, her employer Aaron (Duplass) reveals that she's to make a documentary about him: a prolific serial killer. To his surprise, Sara agrees, kicking off a day-long psychological duel that may convince Aaron he's finally met his true soulmate. (Chicago International Film Festival)

The pairing of a maniacal sociopath with a naturally likable girl who longs to make a great YouTube video offers a solid, bizarre situation and constant suspense arising from concern for her wellbeing. In places, the screenplay seems to have been made up on the fly, which is forgivable thanks to the original concept (getting such a horror series on Netflix for a few bucks is simply a success and a sign of ingenuity). However, that cannot be said for the silly and lazy ending, which goes against the carefully managed plausibility and believability that came before it.
