Uncovering the hidden stories of the Second World War. On the Eastern Front of World War Two, where Hitler and Stalin's armies fought to the death, millions of soldiers and their weapons are still left behind, exposed to the elements and in danger of being looted by grave robbers. Now four men are combining their skills to recover the buried stories of the bloodiest battlefields the world has ever known. Their mission is to hand over excavated items to museums for safe-keeping and bury the dead with honour. Over the course of four explosive episodes, the team uncovers trench lines, SS defensive positions, an artillery command bunker abandoned in 1945 and a mass grave containing gruesome evidence of reprisals at the end of the war.
