The ruthless worlds of international sports and politics rarely collide as spectacularly on screen as they do in Bryan Fogel's thriller that is sure to set off convulsions of controversy. While investigating the furtive world of illegal doping in sports, Fogel connects with renegade Russian scientist Dr. Grigory Rodchenkov - a pillar of his country's "anti-doping" program. Over dozens of Skype calls, urine samples, and badly administered hormone injections, Fogel and Rodchenkov grow closer despite shocking allegations that place Rodchenkov at the center of Russia's state-sponsored Olympic doping program. When the truth is more complex than imagined, and accusations of illegalities run to Russia's highest chains of command, the two realize they hold the power to reveal the biggest international sports scandal in living memory. angielski This is an interesting documentary about the background of the doping affair revelation. Some people are simply willing to do more than others to win. Frankly, I'm quite surprised the Russians didn't have to pay even more for their actions. But they can't, because even though sport is mostly about sport, there’s still a lot of politics involved in it. ()

angielski Which documentary filmmaker would not want to represent and have an unprecedented access to “sports Snowden upside down", right? And Fogel somehow managed to get one which disrupted the original direction of the document to some extent. And it was the intended concept of "how to (not) improve in a year of a professional doping program while circumventing all the top anti - doping tests" that I would prefer to watch. Although it´s present here, but only a little and it eventually fades away anyway. However, it is not Fogel's fault, he would have to be crazy not to take advantage of the situation. However, he makes the same mistake as documentary about Snowden does. It captures and brings information that at the time of the release has nothing new to offer. All the final reports of the investigating commission, investigative reports of the NY Times, the Guardian, etc. have already covered it so well that nothing new will be revealed here. And Fogel should have realized that, and rather tried to get under Rodchenko skin, no one else would have the opportunity to do so. Which, of course, does not happen, and not once does he look at him from a different perspective than a nice peculiar guy. Another strange thing is that if it is true that Rodchenko was recommended to him long before that explosive document from the ARD, then why he does not investigate how and why it is known about him (if we also take into account who and for what purpose recommended him). Fogel lacks an investigative drive to go after anything beyond the obvious, to get deep into details. This is, after all, the reason why the already mentioned original concept of "doping Supersize Me", where he would be the center of interest, would suit him much more ()
