Substitute teacher Glenn Radars has a rather unorthodox approach to education. Even though his students are driven to learn, he prefers to write instructions on the chalkboard and nap during class. His evident laziness and overall incompetence frustrates his students to the point they challenge him! But, when a dangerous group threatens the school, he proves he’s more than a lazy fool. angielski The beginning of Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor was really cool. Admittedly, it was another load of classic tropes; however, Glenn Radars was a character I have been hungry to see in a show with a similar concept for a while. This male protagonist is a bastard and could not give a shit, especially about anything that happens around him. The moment Glenn used his most powerful punch (which was actually a kick), I thought to myself that I was watching something I had seen many times before, even though this time it was from a character I just was not expecting. At that point, I was even considering a likable (albeit mere) four stars and was looking forward to the next episode. However, as SonGokussj said in his review, the third episode came along, and I felt like I was watching something completely different. It was suddenly incredibly boring and stale, and the main male protagonist was suddenly just like all those boring, determined, and righteous heroes of other anime series. It was as if a classic straight-laced square hero, whom I have repeatedly seen in these magic school anime series, arrived on the set instead of a cunning bastard, and everything fell into the classic ruts of this genre in which it more or less remained until the very end. The main male protagonist continued to stumble around in the later episodes pretending to be the bastard I had grown to like and trying to mask the fact that he was actually quite normal. However, his single-mindedness just would not quit and I then did not find him believable as a bastard anymore. Therefore, in the end, I was disappointed because this magical school anime series is basically a completely average show with predictable twists that are all too often resolved with the help of various unexpected things just pulled out of thin air. It once again proves to be just another show in which, as Scalpelexis said in his review, "You have surely seen everything that happens in this show before." Plus, I just cannot forgive them for the way they destroyed Glenn's character, even now at the end. 4.4/10. ()
