Inspired by Mirza Sahiban, one of India's most tragic love stories, this new film entitled Mirzya is an epic story of love defying destiny, cleverly portrayed with frequent flashbacks. A boy and a girl are best friends but after a shocking accident, the boy becomes a fugitive. They meet again as adults and discover an insurmountable difference in social standing between them, but eventually they run away to satisfy their love and be together. It's a classic Bollywood movie where there's too much romance that overwhelms us with its emotions, making it hard to watch after a while. But then comes another scene, perhaps brilliantly action-packed and grand, and you know there's tremendous potential here, which the overly sentimental romance horribly undermines. But after all, it's made for people who crave love.
