It is Areum's (Min-hee Kim) first day of work at a small publisher. Her boss Bongwan (Hae-hyo Kwon) loved and recently broke up with the woman who previously worked there. Today too, the married Bongwan leaves home in the dark morning and sets off to work. The memories of the woman who left weigh down on him. The Day After is a nice and enjoyable conversational film revealing a small-business manager’s relationships with his
wife (pure hell), mistress (complicated) and new employee (innocent and refreshing). Conversations take place at the
table or while standing in his office, or during dinner. There are jealousy, confusion and desperation, but always
portrayed in a light and amusing way, with humorously exaggerated emotional outbursts. The visuals are as simple as
possible, but rendered in stunningly long shots. What matters is the content, guilelessness and openness of the dialogue
