A young couple have been trekking for three months in a desolate mountainous region when they chance upon an abandoned house containing supplies of food and drink. Having only planned a short break there, Basile wants to continue his visionary quest to find Tolkien's secret city of Gondolin, but Léa settles into the comfortable surroundings and insists on staying awhile. The days pass in pleasant inactivity, nevertheless, Basile, restless and haunted by nightmares, fearfully looks on as snow starts to fall on the mountain pass they will have to negotiate. One day a weather-beaten man turns up at the house, a hunter clearly used to walking in these severe conditions, but he speaks an unfamiliar language... (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)

(50th KVIFF) It looked quite good on paper. A remote cabin high up in the mountains, a couple, an unknown stranger… I thought the director and screenwriter would deliver conflict, paranoia, tension; that the characters won’t have things very easy. Much to my surprise, the film was about nothing. That couple is just staying in that mountain cabin because they are running away from something, and someone joins them. That’s it. Only the mountain setting looks gorgeous on screen. The soundtrack is also fine, in particular the sounds and noises that generate hopes in the naive viewer that the film will eventually turn into some sort of psychological thriller or horror.
