Opisy(1)

Kira (Rebecca Forsythe) is young, beautiful and afflicted with a strange disease which causes her skin to age rapidly, to the point of drying out and crumbling away. After discovering that she can replace her own skin with somebody else's as a temporary fix, Kira lets her vanity rule as she seeks out more and more victims. Her drive to remain youthful is at odds with her fear of being discovered by the police or her new lover, Sophia, and her bodily needs spin increasingly out of control. (Los Angeles Film Festival)

angielski I wasn’t expecting such stylish art horror out of this. The responses flew over my head and I went to this film expecting a new Contracted or Thanatomorphose, but I was surprised, and also pleased to see that Norbert Keil following his own, and very interesting path. In fact, I have the feeling that the core storyline, which Replace follows after the main twist is revealed, is something that I’ve never seen in a horror film. That alone deserves praise, even if, in other aspects, the film has some holes and the behaviour of the characters doesn’t follow a clear logic. ()

angielski Replace is another fine body horror film in a similar vein to Contracted, Starry Eyes, Thanatomorphose, Bite and Let Her Out, I liked them all and Replace brings something new to the small subgenre again. The main character starts suffering from skin problems, her skin starts to age and peel off quickly (not pretty to look at). The doctors don't know what to do so she has to experiment on her own and finds she can replace her skin with another, but it takes a toll: she has to kill and flay another pretty lady. A very interesting and offbeat film from Canada that has elements of lesbian drama, neon-colored visuals that reminded me of Dario Argento's giallo in places, and an interesting plot with a solid twist that you just don't see in horror films. There's some gore and lots of exposed boobs, so definitely satisfaction. 75%. ()

angielski This movie started out as pure chaos. There were moments when I was completely lost, wondering if I'd somehow zoned out for twenty minutes and missed a crucial part of the plot. Thankfully, the creators gradually filled in these gaps, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the peculiar struggles of the senior citizen. My feelings about the film are a bit mixed; there were times when it felt like a mess, but I can't give it less than three stars because there were also some incredibly well-executed moments that stood out. / Lesson learned: If you have skin problems, you might want to skip this film. It's probably better for you and those around you. ()

angielski The German-Canadian movie Replace tries to be visually arresting. However, the visuals are not the main attraction of this movie. Rather it is something that spoils the impression. That, along with the acting, is such a dull, slow, dragging, and bland performance. However, the screenplay is a saving grace and gives Replace something extra to make it worth watching. I certainly would not be reluctant to give it a go. ()
