The morning after a late-night police wedding, Franz Eberhofer is woken up by a heavily armed swat team, and even Grandma’s broom can’t scare them off. Police officer Barschl was found dead last night with a knife in his back. Unfortunately, the murder weapon is easy to identify as Franz’s pocket knife, as it has his name engraved on it. And to make it even worse, the dead man was Franz’s boss, and they didn’t get on. Thankfully, his father is willing to lie to give him an alibi. But Franz will have to find out the truth himself. Thankfully, his buddy Rudi Birkenberger is always willing to lend a hand. Franz also has problems on the home front. Papa has been jealous ever since Grandma’s long-lost love PAUL turned up – and now he has moved in! And it gets worse: because of Paul’s sensitive stomach, there’s nothing but dumpling broth for dinner, every night! (Berlinale)
