Narcos

The series became an instant favorite of mine. What makes me like it so much is how different it is from the standard. The creators managed to create an excellent, powerful atmosphere right from the first episode. They also did an excellent job regarding action and suspense. If it hadn't been for four somewhat awkward episodes in the second half of the second season, I would have practically nothing to complain about. And I can't even say those episodes were bad, I just got too spoiled by the perfection that precedes them. I really enjoyed Agent Murphy's commentary and the use of real footage, which gave the whole series more depth. I really enjoyed this show. (07.02.2018)

Season 1 introduced me to an interesting series (the narrator is excellent). I really enjoyed it and got a lot of interesting information as a bonus, which made me want to check and look up additional facts. I'm always interested to see how well the filmmakers manage to create the right kind of atmosphere in a film or series. They did a great job in Narcos. I was absorbed in the plot from the very beginning and the only disappointment came when the credits rolled Then again, it makes me even more excited for the next season. The first episode of the series immediately won me over. I enjoy movies and series that have atmosphere, and Narcos has it in abundance. Aside from the atmosphere, it also contains a decent amount of tension and action. The creators did a great job by interspersing the story with documentary footage, which makes it more believable. The second episode successfully continued what the pilot episode started. Unlike the USA, Colombia proved to be a real country full of opportunities. The creators are managing to maintain the atmosphere they created at the beginning, the tension has arrived, the action was brutal, and I had a good time, so just keep going. It was a bit spoiled by the subtitle program when it offered me the name of the leader of the M-19 group as Ivan "Hrůza" (Horror), oh well, it's not that difficult, right, with basic knowledge of history? Not only do the creators continue to maintain a high-quality atmosphere, but from each subsequent episode, I always learn something new about the South American country of unlimited possibilities, which then forces me to quickly replenish the missing information as much as possible. Yes, even after the fourth episode, satisfaction persists. At times, I already thought that the creators were exaggerating with Escobar's impunity, but then I remembered Krejčíř and Mrázek, and realized that I was thinking like a fool. Considering that I saw the movie "American Made" a few days ago, I enjoyed the passage with Barry Seal. (04.02.2018)

The fifth episode was still solid, but compared to previous episodes, it was narratively weaker. I assume it was the famous calm before the storm, so I hope that I will be able to give the next episode five stars again. Given the final minutes, I am actually convinced of that. (04.02.2018)

The assumptions have been fulfilled. The sixth episode was full of tension and action, the atmosphere was absolutely captivating, and many cruelties occurred. Americans simply do not disappoint me, their list of priorities is flawless :-) I was disappointed that my favorite character Luis Guzmán ended so soon, but on the other hand, at least it was revealed that Gacha had an open mind. Pablo Escobar could have been a great chess player, he pulled off a clear checkmate move to the end and ultimately turned it into victory. After watching the seventh episode, I can say that I haven't been bored with the series for a second so far. The story of this episode was excellently written again, the atmosphere, tension, and action worked great. (04.02.2018)

Fortunately, this time there was no change - everything is going smoothly like a Patek Philippe watch. I really like the style of the Colombian security forces - we take them all down, and then God takes over. Being a hostage in Colombia will probably be quite an adrenaline rush. I definitely have clarity, Narcos is an outstanding series, I have watched nine episodes without any disappointment. It is said that we are too lenient towards convicts here, I definitely do not recommend this episode to the healthy angry taxpayers and Mr. Okamura, as it could provoke a heart attack. Just like the previous parts, the final episode was also wonderfully written and directed, the atmosphere was traditionally fantastic, and it was a joy to watch the hesitation of government officials between justice and evil (greater or lesser). Considering that we were basically just waiting for one bigger final action the whole time, I had a great time. (05.02.2018)

I enjoyed the second season, too. I couldn't help but notice the difference in quality between its first and second half, though. The first half had everything I love about this series: atmosphere, action and tension. Episode 4 was the absolute best of the series so far, so I was really annoyed by how things slowed down in the last four episodes. There were long scenes with hardly any plot, obviously meant to set up some sort of sentimental mood, but it just didn't do it for me. (07.02.2018)

At first, I had the impression that the plot of the first episode of the second season was slightly slower and I said to myself that this time it would be "only" four stars, but then everything started again as I was used to, and the five-star rating was back. I am genuinely fascinated by the contrast between the lazy calm that is soon followed by raw violence accompanied by absolute indifference to life. Delightful. (05.02.2018)

Would the second season come with a new approach? The episode had a calmer plot again, followed by an explosion of sheer brutality at the end. It might work for me. When comparing different occupations, I would rather be a coal baron. Surely a drug baron earns more and faster, but they have a rather unsettled life. (06.02.2018)

In the third episode, my favorite character Colonel Carrillo returned, who fights fire with fire. He didn't disappoint me this time either and was practically behind every action in the episode, which was more focused on planning future events. Fortunately, I don't mind talkative parts as long as it relates to the matter at hand. And that was happening here. (06.02.2018)

I don't know if the creators will be able to surpass the fourth episode during the second season, but if they do, it would have to be an excellent episode, which would be great for the viewers. This was a masterpiece with a tense atmosphere, full of escalated tension and brutal action. I definitely wouldn't want to be in the shoes of that unfortunate person, no matter what they do, they always manage to provoke someone powerful. (06.02.2018)

The fifth episode, in my opinion, wasn't as great as the previous one, but I don't see any reason why I would take away a star. The plot once again had an interesting development, a bigger chaos broke out in Medellin than usual, and the conclusion remained pleasantly open-ended. (06.02.2018)

Another great episode, in which the atmosphere, tension, and action worked even better than usual. After finishing the first season, I was afraid that the second season would disappoint me, but the fact is that I am still thoroughly enjoying it. It has intensified a bit again, and even though Pablo Escobar is causing some trouble around him, it is evident that things are going downhill for him. (06.02.2018)

This time I deducted a star because the seventh episode lost a bit of momentum. The passages with Duque and the journey of Escobar's family to and from Germany felt unnecessarily dragged out and significantly slowed down the whole story. But I understand that the finale is approaching and it seems to be setting up for something. (07.02.2018)
